Changing your DNS to use the AutoDiscover service
In order for Exchange Server 2007 and Outlook 2007 to function properly, you must have a special DNS SRV record set up for your domain which points to the intinc.com AutoDiscover server.
Prior to setup, contact the Web hosting provider responsible for your Domains DNS to make sure they support the creation of SRV records.
There are some DNS providers that don't support SRV records. In this case, you will need to set up a CNAME (see instructions below) for auto discover.
Autodiscover checks against the domain you use to login and send from. You will need to create an autodiscover DNS entry for all of your primary and secondary domains.
SRV Record Settings:
Name or Domain:intinc.com
Service: _autodiscover
Protocol: _tcp
Priority: 0
Weight: 0
Port Number: 443
Host: rpc.MyOutlookOnline.com
Keep in mind that it might take up to 24 hrs for the changes to take effect.
------- If a SRV record is NOT possible, set up a CNAME for AutoDiscover -------------
CNAME Record Settings:
You will need a special DNS record, called a CNAME record, set up for your domain and pointing to our server. Contact your DNS provider and request the following subdomain: autodiscover.intinc.net
Please note: It is important to rename the subdomain using this exact syntax.
Point the CNAME record for autodiscover.intinc.net to: ADR1.MyOutlookOnline.com.
Due to the nature of DNS, the CNAME record you created may take up to 4-8 hours to propagate. You will be able to take advantage of the AutoConnect feature only when DNS changes have fully propagated.
Issues you might experience if you don't have the SRV or CNAME record set up for AutoDiscover.
1. Certificate error when logging into Outlook.
2. You will not be able to set up Out of Office Assistant using Outlook 2007.
3. You will not be able to see the free/busy information.
4. Your Offline Address Book might generate a SYNC error 0x8000401F.
5. The Outlook 2007 auto configuration will not work.
6. Outlook Repair tool may not work properly.
* Because of the above reasons, we highly suggest that you set up the SRV or CNAME for AutoDiscover when using Outlook 2007 and Exchange Server 2007.
