Set Up BlackBerry for Exchange
Requirements for Enterprise Activation:
1. BES Data plan from your phone carrier.
2. Strong Data Signal strength from your carrier.
Set up Process
1. If your admin has not set up your BES account with us please give them the following steps to get your BlackBerry service enabled.
- From the User List page, click on the drop-down arrow next to your user name and choose "BlackBerry"
- Click Enable BlackBerry Service

- It takes approximately 3 minutes for the system to provision the BES integration with your email mailbox. If the screen doesn't refresh automatically you can hit the refresh button to refresh the screen. Once the red text show at the top of the screen goes away the BES integration has been completed.

2. Do a "Wipe" on your handheld. NOTE: Any changes made on the handheld that have not been synched to your Outlook client will be lost. If you have unsynchronized data that you would like to keep (i.e., address book, pictures, applications, etc.) please backup your files with BlackBerry Desktop Manager BEFORE conducting the wipe.
To erase all the data on your BlackBerry device, complete the following steps.
- Go to Options
- Select Security Options.
- Select General Settings.
- Click the Menu key.
- Select Wipe Handheld.
- Click Continue.
- Type "BlackBerry" to confirm the wipe.
- All the data on the BlackBerry device is erased.
3. Disable server-side spam filtering by:
- Logging into WebMail.
- Click "Options" on the bottom left if you are on Exchange 2003 or on the top right if you are on Exchange 2007.
- Uncheck "Filter Junk E-mail".
- Click Save and Close at the top.
4. Close any Microsoft Outlook clients that you currently have open.
5. Make sure that you have a strong signal on the handheld by going to Settings > Options > Status > Signal. For a successful activation, it should be between 0 and -90. If not, please find a location which is between 0 and -90.
6. From the device, click [Settings] > Options > Advanced Options > Enterprise Activation
NOTE: If you do not see the Enterprise Activation option on your device, contact your carrier and verify you are on the correct data plan. They may need to "resend your service books" to make this option available.
7. Enter the following information:
- E-mail Address: AltEmailAddress@ThisService.com
- Password: cat
- Activation Server Address: if prompted leave blank.
8. Click the Menu button.
9. Select Activate.
10. The device will respond with "Verifying encryption keys..." then it will begin the process of enterprise activation.
11. Enable server-side spam filtering by:
- Logging into WebMail.
- Click "Options" on the bottom left if you are on Exchange 2003 or on the top right if you are on Exchange 2007.
