Email Encryption Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook

You will be prompted for the username and password of the mailbox that you are downloading Proofpoint Encryption Plug-in for.

A plug-in for Proofpoint Encryption is available for Microsoft Outlook 2003 and 2007 on the Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 operating systems. When installed, the plug-in displays a Send Securely button in the Outlook interface that users can click to send secure messages. The Send Securely button adds a header to the message that triggers a Proofpoint Protection Server rule to encrypt the message.

The plug-in exhibits slightly different behavior on the Microsoft Outlook 2003 and 2007 platforms.

Microsoft Outlook 2003

A Send Securely choice will also display in the File drop-down menu.

Microsoft Outlook 2007

There is no File drop-down menu.
In addition to the Send Securely button, users will see a Proofpoint tab that also includes a Send Securely button. Both buttons have identical functions.
