Case Study:
Website Design for Send a Care Package Today
Developing a Website for A Military Care Package Service
The goal of this project was to design and develop a custom WordPress website – Send a Care Package Today (SACPT) – that would serve as a resource hub for users looking to send military care packages. The site compiles a list of URLs from third-party sites, making it easier for users to find and access services for sending packages to military personnel. The project involved logo design, website development, quality assurance (QA) testing, and ongoing hosting and maintenance services. By providing a user-friendly, visually appealing, and secure website, INT enhanced the user experience and ensured the platform would operate smoothly long–term.

The Client:
This Chicago-based Client is dedicated to helping small businesses amplify their impact through the strategic use of media. They collaborate with business sponsors and media outlets to broadcast over 3 million messages, raising awareness on important issues such as breast cancer, blood donation, and drug abuse. This Client provides a platform for businesses to leverage local media not just for commercial purposes but also to serve their communities in meaningful ways. They are deeply committed to giving back and actively supporting organizations aligned with the causes they promote.
The Problem:
The Client was offering a new service and needed an online presence to connect users with relevant resources for sending military care packages. Since the website was a new venture, there were no legacy systems or existing online platforms to update. Instead, the challenge was to create a completely new platform from the ground up that reflected the Client’s brand identity and user needs. The task required a clean, professional website that would be easy to navigate, aesthetically pleasing, and reliable.
The Challenges:
The project presented its own unique challenges:
- Brand Identity Creation: Because this was a new service, the Client needed an entirely new logo and visual identity that would resonate with the target audience—patriotic individuals, military families, and supporters.
- Custom Theming & Usability: The website needed a custom WordPress theme to provide an intuitive user experience, allowing the target audience to quickly find the resources they needed without unnecessary complexity or clutter.
- Third-Party Integration: Compiling and organizing links to third-party sites while ensuring smooth functionality and a cohesive experience presented technical challenges.
The Solution:
To address these challenges, the Project Team implemented a step-by-step approach:
- Research & Development:
- The team began by working closely with the Client to design multiple logo options, ultimately creating a visual identity that was professional and appealing to the Client’s target audience.
- The Project Team developed wireframes and design mockups to establish SACPT’s layout and functionality. These were reviewed by the Client, and once approved, INT began the development of a custom-themed WordPress site.
- Third-party links and resources were seamlessly integrated into the website, ensuring users could easily access the care package services without leaving the platform.
- QA Testing & Go-Live:
- A staging site was created and shared with the Client for quality assurance testing. Feedback was incorporated into the final iteration of the website, and any necessary changes were made.
- The final version of SACPT was prepared for production, reviewed once more by Client stakeholders, and launched after gaining Client approval.
- Hosting & Ongoing Maintenance:
- The website was hosted using a secure and reliable cPanel solution, ensuring optimal uptime and performance.
- Ongoing maintenance services included bi-monthly content updates, bug fixes, and security measures such as daily vulnerability scans and speed optimizations, to ensure the site remained functional and up-to-date.

The Results:
- New Logo and Branding: The Client now has a brand identity that resonates with its target audience, including a clean, unique logo and cohesive visual elements that convey the site’s purpose and values.
- User-Friendly Website: The new website is easy to navigate and integrates third-party links seamlessly, allowing users to quickly find the resources they need to send military care packages.
- Successful Launch: After thorough QA testing and client feedback, SACPT went live with no significant issues. The launch was smooth, and the platform was well-received by users.
- Ongoing Support: The Client continues to benefit from reliable hosting and regular updates and maintenance, resulting in a fast, secure, functional website that does not require in-house technical staff.
This project delivered a polished, professional website that fulfills the Client’s objectives and provides a valuable resource for military families and supporters. Send a Care Package Today’s custom theme and streamlined functionality have helped establish the Client’s new service as an accessible and trusted offering in the space of military care packages.
